Portland police charged three people with robbing a man and a woman at the Travel Lodge at 1200 Brighton Ave. on Tuesday.

Officers went to the motel at 1:28 a.m. after an employee was notified of a disturbance in a room. Police said two men and a woman threatened the victims with a gun, assaulted them and robbed them of medication, a wallet, money and cellphone. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

The victims, a 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both of Portland, were treated for injuries at the scene but did not require further medical treatment.

The suspects’ vehicle sped away on Capisic Street and was stopped on Fore River Parkway, where three people were taken into custody. They were identified as Benjamin Jackson, 26; Stephen Kubari, 26; and Kristeina Marbuk, 21, all of Portland. All three face a Class A charge of robbery. Jackson was also charged with assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, trafficking in prison contraband and unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs.

No firearms were recovered.
