Maine game wardens on Tuesday found the body of an elderly Deer Isle man who was last seen walking into the woods in Stonington Monday afternoon.

The body of Bruce Greenlaw, 71, was found around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday by game wardens who said it appears the man suffered a medical event, said Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service.

Greenlaw, who had dementia and had missed his medication, was last seen walking into the woods on Park Road in Stonington Monday around 3:30 p.m. Family members told authorities that Greenlaw was going to check on some machinery in the woods and did not return.

The Maine Warden Service, Maine Association of Search and Rescue, Maine Search and Rescue Dogs, Stonington Fire Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office searched overnight for Greenlaw.
