BATH — Smokers in Maine’s Sagadahoc County will soon have to find somewhere else to light their cigarettes.

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network reports that people will be prohibited from using cigarettes, e-cigarettes and other forms of tobacco in county-owned or leased buildings, outdoor areas, parking lots and cars parked on county property starting next month.

Officials say the policy is designed to ensure the health and well-being of those who work in or visit Sagadahoc County.

Jason Shedlock of the county’s Emergency Management Agency tells MPBN that the county is offering resources to employees or residents who want to quit smoking.
