From the Journal Tribune: “… the Beach Olympics is returning to the shores of Old Orchard Beach this weekend for what promises to be an action packed three days of non-stop Olympic style activities. … All proceeds from the annual games benefit the Special Olympics of Maine’s fall sports season according to CEO Phil Geelhoed. Their mission is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults … ”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Two women and a man who became lost off the Proctor Road, Biddeford while picking blueberries yesterday afternoon were found last night at 11 by police. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Corriveau, … their daughter, Mrs. Eva Dinsmore became lost while hunting for berries, police said.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A new Overland automobile … driven by Mrs. Mira Scavey of Kennebunkport, struck the curbstone on Elm street about 3 o’clock this afternoon and the left wheel was turned under, the axle twisted. Mrs. Scavey attempted to avoid a collision … in doing so met with the accident. She was not hurt though made somewhat nervous over the event.”
