FARMINGTON — A former Farmington man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18 five years ago.

Shawn Flagg, 40, of Stetson, was sentenced in Franklin County Superior Court to 10 years in state prison with all but five years suspended on the Class A felony. He will also serve four years of probation once he is released and must register as a sex offender for 10 years, according to court documents.

Flagg pleaded guilty Monday to sexually assaulting the girl in February 2010. He was charged in January.

Flagg was responsible for the victim’s long-term care. Court documents indicate that the sexual assault was “by compulsion,” meaning it took place by force or by the threat of force.

Another sexual assault charge against Flagg was dismissed in exchange for the plea agreement.

Flagg also pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and to a charge of domestic violence stalking against a member of his household, according to court documents. Sentencing on all of the charges is to run concurrent with the sexual assault conviction.
