Scarborough High School class of 1965, known as “the class that was,” held its 50th class reunion on Aug. 16 at the Webber homestead on Winnocks Neck Road. Nearly all classmates were located and contacted before the reunion. The event was attended by 43 classmates and 21 guests.

Of the 107 classmates, 69 still live in Maine with 22 residing in Scarborough. Other members of the class reside in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Canada. Edward Morse traveled the farthest from Milford, Iowa. A moment of silence was observed for the 19 members of the class who have passed away.

Organizers extend thanks to the Reunion Committee comprised of Donaleen Boothby Clark, Jo-Deen Coulthard Stevens, Ann Legacy Carson, Shirley Lindholm O’Malley, Pamela Mathews Barker, David Moulton, Beverly Nelson Dahms, Louise Snow Bachelder and Charles Webber. They also thanked Roger Delaware and Everett Quimby for sharing several old class pictures from Dunstan Elementary School and Bessey Junior High School.

Special appreciation is extended to Charles Webber, president of the class of ’65, for providing the beautiful venue for the reunion and pig roast. It was a warm day, however with an ocean breeze a great time was had by all who reminisced about old times at SHS and renewed old friendships. It was the first reunion that some had attended.
