Veranda Thai has leased the Old Port restaurant space at 245 Commercial St. that is the former home of The Salt Exchange, which closed last November.
This will be the third restaurant for the owners of Veranda Thai and Veranda Noodle Bar, which are located across the street from each other on Portland’s Veranda Street, just off Washington Avenue.

The landlord for the 2,600-square-foot restaurant space is Casco View Holdings LLC, according to The Boulos Co., which brokered the deal. The new restaurant is expected to open sometime this fall.
The original Veranda Thai is a tiny but popular restaurant serving traditional Thai cuisine.
