Library group visits Naples

Members of Friends of Walker Memorial Library recently spent a summer day in Naples.

Kelly Day, vice president of the group, said they visited a library there and took a two-hour cruise on the Songo Queen. They had lunch downtown at Rick’s and had ice cream while walking around.

“It was the perfect summer day,” she said.

The next event is the Friends of the Library Pampered Chef fundraiser, Day said. The event with cooking demonstrations and food samples is set for Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Day said the library receives 15 percent of the sales. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Kate Martin has joined the Westbrook-Gorham Rotary Club. A club announcement said Martin was originally from Berlin, N.H., and graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Standish with a degree in communications, public relations and advertising.

She recently moved to Gorham, where she joined Morgan Dental Care as the director of communications and marketing.

“She has had a remarkable career to date including executive director of the Berlin, N.H., Main Street program – a program which brought new business into a town that lost its largest employer,” the Rotary reported.

Martin also has managed a 192-unit property in North Carolina. She is married and mother of two daughters.

The Rotary meets 11:30 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. weekly on Tuesdays at the American Legion Post 197, 300 Conant St. (Route 25) in Westbrook.
