BYU: Defensive back Michael Davis was charged with misdemeanor counts of assault and riot after a July dispute over a parking spot.

The alleged victim said a car was parked in his reserved spot at a Provo apartment complex and a towing company was called.

Davis grabbed the man by the neck, according to the police report, and left minor bruising.

OREGON STATE: A woman who says she was raped while attending the school in 1999 seeks $7.5 million in a federal Title IX lawsuit against the school and its former football coach, Mike Riley.

The woman accuses the university and Riley of failing to address a sexually violent culture among the football team that contributed to her being attacked by a player’s cousin at an off-campus apartment.

Dennis Erickson had been Oregon State’s football coach for 10 months at the time, but his name does not appear in the suit filed Monday.

Riley led the team in 1998, when a different woman said she was raped by four men, one of whom was the player whose cousin is named as the attacker in the lawsuit.

KENNESAW STATE kicks off its inaugural season Thursday by facing East Tennessee State, which will be playing its first game since reviving a program it had shut down for financial reasons in 2003.

This game comes two years after both schools announced their plans to add football.

“We’re awful excited,” Kennesaw State Coach Brian Bohannon said. “I know we’ve used that word a bunch. I’ve said ‘excited’ probably 300 million times in the last 21/2 years, but we genuinely are. We’re ready to go play a game.”

MEN’S BASKETBALL

KANSAS STATE: Brandon Bolden has played his last basketball game as a Wildcat.

The junior forward has been granted a medical exemption coming off a broken wrist that ended his sophomore season early, meaning he can remain on scholarship at K-State without playing for the basketball team. Bolden intends to stay at K-State in hopes of graduating with a degree in sociology.
