Two high-profile professional women are opening an upscale women’s boutique and beauty bar on Wharf Street this week.
Co-owners Erin Ovalle, a morning news anchor at WMTW, and Dr. Christine Blake, a family practitioner in Westbrook, are teaming up to open Style Me Portland.
“We are thrilled to bring our passion for fun and sophisticated outfits and fashion to Portland,” said Ovalle, in a news release. “Throughout my career, I’ve emceed countless events where women relay the challenge of finding fun, professional and unique clothing. Women who live here, and those who visit, are looking for a luxury experience that’s local and affordable.”
The salon will offer luxury clothing for special occasions, professional attire and hair and makeup styling, including cuts, coloring, blowouts and makeup applications.
Ovalle and Blake will continue their jobs on TV news and in family medicine. They have hired a team that includes Jessica Morse, formerly of Akari in Portland and Intercoiffure Salon who trained at the House of Bumble in New York City; Mandy St. Pierre, a graduate of the Spa Tech Institute and formerly of CoCo Cheveux Salon in South Portland, who specializes in finish work, cutting and blowouts; and Randy Preis, formerly of CoCo Cheveux in South Portland, who has years of experience in event styling and corrective coloring, whose clients include Miss USA and Miss America.
The boutique, located at 29 Wharf St., was hosting an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and will open for business Thursday.
