BIDDEFORD — Jackie Dickerson scored in the first half and Taylor Usko in the second to give the University of New England a 2-0 victory against Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s soccer opener Saturday.

Dickerson scored 14:15 into the game and Usko 6:09 into the second half for the Nor’easters (3-1) against Endicott (1-3).

Dickerson chipped a 35-yard ball into the box that bounced over goalie Kristin Hartlage. Usko took Maria Philbrick’s pass from the top of the box and tucked it in the near post.

Brielle Robinson made two saves for the shutout. Hartlage and Caroline Armbruster combined for five saves for Endicott.

BATES 1, HAMILTON 1: Olivia Amdur scored in the 23rd minute for Bates (1-0-1, 0-0-1 NESCAC), in a tie with Hamilton (0-1-1, 0-1-1) at Clinton, New York.

Cassie Hayward tied it on a corner kick in the 52nd minute. Becca Rees played the corner to the far post, where Hayward put it in.

TUFTS 3, COLBY 1: Nicole Campellone scored twice as Tufts (2-1, 2-0 NESCAC) beat Colby (0-1, 0-1) at Somerville, Massachusetts.

After the Jumbos took a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute. Katherine Gillespie scored for the White Mules at 54:05. Campellone scored her scond goal in the 88th minute.

SOUTHERN MAINE 5, THOMAS 0: Katherine Hunziker had a goal and an assist as five players scored for the Huskies (2-1) against the Terriers (2-2) at Waterville.

Sarah Michaud, Hana McNally, Kara Sampsell and Ariana Davidson added goals for the Huskies, who scored three times in the first 20 minutes and led 4-0 at halftime.

SIMMONS 3, ST. JOSEPH’S 1: Greer Gilbert had two goals and an assist to lead the Sharks (2-3, 1-0 Great Northeast) past the Monks (1-3, 0-1) at Boston.

Haley DaGraca scored for St. Joseph’s from Whitney White to make it 3-1 in the 71st minute.

AMHERST 2, BOWDOIN 0: Grace Orr opened the scoring with five seconds left in the first half and Hannah Guzzi added a goal 10:15 into the second to lift the Lord Jeffs (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) over the Polar Bears (0-1, 0-1) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Bridget McCarthy of Bowdoin made six saves. Holly Burwick stopped four shots for the shutout.

MEN’S SOCCER

CASTLETON STATE 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Solo Felekeni scored after 20 minutes and Steven Koenemann added a goal in the 62nd minute to lift the Spartans (3-2) over the Huskies (1-4-1) at Bangor.

Amri Pasic stopped four shots to record the shutout. Simon Hulbert finished with five saves for the Huskies.

AMHERST 1, BOWDOIN 0: Cameron Bean scored from Jackson Lenhart in the 81st minute as the Lord Jeffs (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) edged the Polar Bears (1-1, 0-1) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Stevie Van Siclen made three saves for the Polar Bears.

TUFTS 2, COLBY 0: Nathan Majumder and Connor Brown scored less than three minutes apart early in the first half and the Jumbos (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) held off the Mules (1-1, 0-1) at Somerville, Massachusetts.

EMMANUEL 3, ST. JOSEPH’S 2: Colin O’Donnell scored the go-ahead goal with 1:36 left to lift the Saints (2-1, 1-0 Great Northeast) over the Monks (2-2-1, 0-1) at Boston.

Jesse Ramirez gave the Monks the lead after 3:17. Emmanuel tied it five minutes later.

ENDICOTT 6, UNIERVSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Abdulla Al Khalifa scored twice as Endicott (2-1-1, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Nor’easters (1-3, 0-1) at Biddeford.

Diego Maillo scored on a close shot off Carter Ocko’s long throw-in to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead after 13:16 into the game. Al Khalifa scored twice on long shots within a 2:55 span midway through the half to make it 3-0 before Marc Deleppo added a goal late in thehalf. Diego Slobotzky and Jake Lambert notched second-half goals.

BATES 2, HAMILTON 0: Luis Pereira scored from Nate Merchant after 2:50 and the Bobcats (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) downed the Continentals (0-2, 0-1) at Clinton, New York.

Sam Polito made three saves to record the shutout. Peabo Knoth added a goal in the 77th minute.

HAMILTON 1, BATES 0: Casey Brown scored following a penalty corner 25 minutes into the game and Julia Booth stopped all nine shots she faced for the Continentals (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) against the Bobcats (0-1, 0-1) at Clinton, New York.

TUFTS 3, COLBY 0: Celia Lewis scored two goals 18 seconds apart early in the second half to help the Jumbos (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC) pull away from the Mules (1-1, 0-1) at Medford, Massachusetts.

ST. JOSEPH’S 7, MOUNT IDA 0: Meghan Williams and Kayla Kelly scored twice each as St. Joseph’s (2-1, 1-0 Great Northeast) beat the Mustangs (1-4, 0-1) at Newton, Massachusetts.

BOWDOIN 4, AMHERST 1: Rachel Kennedy collected two goals and one assist to lead the third-ranked Polar Bears (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) past the 12th-ranked Lord Jeffs (1-2, 0-2) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3, MIT 2: Nicole Matarozzo collected a pass with her back to the goal and curled around a defender to shoot into the left side of the cage with 6:16 remaining as the Nor’easters (3-1) beat MIT (3-2) at Biddeford.

SOUTHERN MAINE 4, BRIDGEWATER STATE 0: Jennifer Poulin opened the scoring after 4:37 from Allison Ward and the Huskies (3-2, 1-0 Little East) added two first-half goals against the Bears (2-2, 0-1) at Gorham.

FOOTBALL

HUSSON 44, ALFRED STATE 2: John Smith had more than 100 yards rushing in the first quarter, and finished with three touchdowns and 184 yards on 29 carries to lead the Eagles (1-1) over the Pioneers (0-2) at Alfred, New York.
