Portland police say they have identified three suspects who robbed and beat a 40-year-old man who was walking along Cumberland Avenue Sunday night.

Lt. Gary Hutcheson said police arrested one man, Modu Fall, 52, of Portland, on robbery charges and have identified the remaining suspects. Those men have not been charged yet.

Police said Fall and his partners approached the victim, who had just purchased beer at the 7-Eleven convenience store on Washington Avenue, and threatened him at knifepoint. They proceeded to beat the victim, making off with the beer and a small amount of cash.

The robbery took place around 9:30 p.m. near Cumberland Avenue’s intersection with Anderson Street. The victim did not need to be hospitalized.
