A Saco man died Monday in a lawnmower accident, police said.
Saco police responded to a report of an accidental death on Boom Road on Monday at 5:53 p.m. Officers and Saco Fire Department personnel found Stephen Rice, 73, beneath a lawn tractor at the base of an embankment, according to a news release from Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Holland.
According to family members, Rice had set out at 3 p.m. to perform lawn maintenance and other work around the property. Family members went to check on him when he failed to return after several hours.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine whether further investigation into the death is warranted.
