The Portland Sea Dogs will open the 2016 season on Thursday April 7 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the team announced Thursday.

The home opener at Hadlock Field is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday April 14 against the Hartford Yard Goats.

The 2016 season will feature just nine games at Hadlock Field in April. There will be 17 home games in May, 15 in June, 14 in July and 16 in August.

For the first time since 2002, the Sea Dogs will open and close the season on the road. The annual Field of Dreams/Fan Appreciation Day, typically held on Labor Day weekend, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27 next season.

Tickets for individual games will go on sale on at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Hadlock Field ticket office. Phone and internet orders will begin at noon that day.

2016 will mark the Sea Dogs’ 23rd season and 14th as a Boston Red Sox affiliate. Portland will play 142 games (71 home and 71 away) against 11 Eastern League opponents.
