EASTPORT — An arrest has been made in connection with the suspicious death of a 75-year-old Eastport man.

WCSH-TV reports that 39-year-old Hazen McDugald of Eastport is facing an aggravated assault charge.

He is not accused in the death of Maurice Harris, who was found dead in his home on Sept. 10. The affidavit in the case was impounded.

His attorney says police were interested in McDugald because of a knife he had when he was arrested.

The attorney told a judge on Friday that the case against McDugald was “thin,” particularly because Harris suffered multiple blunt trauma wounds.
