Four people were injured and one arrested for driving to endanger and violating bail conditions after a three-car crash on Route 91 in York on Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near where Route 91 intersects with Birch Hill Road. police said.

Jared P. Lafleche, 20, from South Berwick, drove into oncoming traffic while passing a pickup truck, police said. That caused a car coming in the opposite direction to swerve onto the wrong side of the road, where it hit the pickup truck that Lafleche was passing, police said, and Lafleche drove off the road and hit a rock.

The driver of the car that hit the pickup, a 16-year-old passenger in that car and the driver of the pickup were all taken to local hospitals. The 16-year-old was seriously injured, but is expected to recover, police said. The driver of the pickup possibly suffered broken bones, police said.

A juvenile passenger in Lafleche’s car ran off after the crash, police said, because he is on house arrest and is not permitted to have contact with Lafleche. Police said charges may be filed by juvenile corrections.

Lafleche was taken to York Hospital by family members, police said, and has been charged with driving to endanger and violating bail conditions.
