Jack Weston scored on a one-timer from Tommy Silk seven minutes into the first half, and Ilyas Abdi headed in a cross from Ahmed Mohamed early in the second half as Waynflete upset Yarmouth 2-1 in a Western Maine Conference game boys’ soccer match Friday afternoon.

Milo Belleau stopped eight shots for the Flyers (4-2) against the reigning Class B state champions.

Matt Dostie put Yarmouth (6-1) on the board with an assist from Henry Coolidge with 16 minutes remaining.

Cal Owen had one save for the Clippers.

FALMOUTH 13, POLAND 0: Hayden Farr scored three goals to lead the Yachtsmen (6-1) over the Knights (2-3-1) at Falmouth.

Jonah Spiegel added two goals and an assist. Eight others scored one goal, and 10 Falmouth players recorded an assist.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 3, A.R. GOULD 2: J.P. Tashamala’s goal midway through the second half gave the Breakers (3-5) a win over the Bears (4-1) at South Portland.

Tashamala also had a successful penalty kick in the first half, and Evan Owen added a goal for Pine Tree.

Mouhamed Roone and Kamal Haji-Ali each got first-half goal for A.R. Gould.

Ryan Pierce made 14 saves for PTA, while Malacai Beauchamps stopped 24 shots for the Bears.

BUCKFIELD 5, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 0: Hunter Foss scored in the first half and the Bucks (5-1) added four second-half goals to pull away from the Lions (4-2-1) at Buckfield.

Ethan Jackson, Jacob Hackett, John Randolph and Sydney Jackson contributed a goal apiece.

CHEVERUS 1, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Mackenzie Johnston scored off a rebound from inside the 6-yard line after a free kick early in the second half, and the Stags (3-3-1) topped the Golden Trojans (4-3) at Saco.

Lexi Nason made four saves for Thornton Academy, while Hannah Tyson stopped eight shots for Cheverus.

DEERING 2, GORHAM 1: Ewa Varney converted a penalty kick in the first half, and Meghana Clere scored early in the second half as Deering (4-2-1) edged visiting Gorham (5-2).

Courtney Cushing got Gorham on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal with 27 minutes left.

Cassidy Coyne stopped 10 shots for Deering. Emma Smith had four saves for Gorham.

MARSHWOOD 6, MASSABESIC 0: Marin Smith scored twice as the Hawks (6-1) cruised past the Mustangs (2-5) at South Berwick.

Marshwood also got goals from Natalie Herbold, Hannah Fife, Natalie Dubois and Maya Carmill.

FALMOUTH 9, POLAND 0: Amelia Waite and Sydney Williams scored two goals apiece for Falmouth (4-2-1) in a win over the Knights (1-6) at Poland.

SACOPEE VALLEY 1, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Morgan Carpenter scored on a rebound from 18 yards with 10 minutes remaining as the Hawks (7-0) edged the Rangers (5-3) at South Hiram.

Lynne Moore stopped 14 shots for Traip, while Hannah Manchester had five saves for Sacopee Valley.

WAYNFLETE 5, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Arianna Giguere scored two goals as the Flyers (5-1) jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and downed the Seagulls (1-8) at Old Orchard Beach.

Ava Farrar had an unassisted goal, Isabel Canning converted a penalty kick and Beata Vest also scored for the Flyers.

Tiffany LeClair made 10 saves for Old Orchard. Ali Pope stopped two shots for the shutout.

BUCKFIELD 6, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 0: Six players scored for the Bucks (6-1) as they cruised past the Lions (2-7) at Buckfield.

Kali Litchfield, Ashley Campbell, Julia Dow, Brianna Damon, Hannah Shields and Tabea Vattahauer notched a goal apiece. Damon and Shields also split goalkeeper duties, combining for three saves.

Clairette Kirezi stopped eight shots for GPCS.

CARRABEC 1, BOOTHBAY 0: Brooklynn Moore scored on a breakaway with a minute left in the second overtime to give the Cobras (4-3) a victory at Boothbay Harbor.

Mickayla Willette assisted on the goal.

Kelsey Creamer had four saves for Carrabec, while Hannah Cola made 17 saves for Boothbay (2-4-1).

MT. VIEW 3, MORSE 1: Kate Bennett and Halle Reynolds scored second-half goals to lift the Mustangs to a victory in Thorndike.

Cate Arthurs also scored for Mt. View, and Jenni Nadeau had 14 saves. Meri Picard and Katelin Bennett each contributed an assist.

SANFORD 2, WESTBROOK 1: The Spartans (6-1-1) got a pair of goals in a 6-minute span in the second half and held on to defeat the Blue Blazes (4-4) at Westbrook.

Bridget Duckworth put Sanford ahead 2:13 into the second half with an assist from Shannon Lebel. Morgan Champagne set up Kim Works for an insurance goal.

Abby St. Clair got Westbrook on the board with a goal off the goalkeeper’s pads with 16:58 left.

Sarah Nickerson stopped three shots for Sanford, while Kimmy Goddard made eight saves for the Blazes.

LAKE REGION 2, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: Olivia Deschenes scored with 1:47 remaining in the first overtime on a feed from Molly Christensen off a short-handed corner as the Lakers (6-3) outlasted the Raiders (6-3) at Fryeburg.

Bridget Tweedie put Fryeburg ahead with an assist from Janelle Weiseman 5:40 into the second half. Deschenes answered with 2:34 left in regulation, assisted by Christensen.

Bridget Fahey had three saves for Fryeburg. Maddie Nelson stopped 10 shots for the Lakers.

FREEPORT 5, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Bailey Coffin scored a pair of goals to lead the Falcons (3-5) over the Hawks (5-3) at Freeport.

Alexa Koenig and Emily Randall each added a goal and an assist.

VOLLEYBALL

YARMOUTH 3, MT. DESERT ISLAND 0: Alison Clark had seven kills and four aces as the Clippers (6-1) defeated the Trojans (4-4) at Yarmouth, 25-13, 25-13, 25-20.

Liz Clark added 19 assists.

Aubrey Boyce had four kills and three digs for MDI, while Ryley Moers finished with 18 digs.
