BANGOR — A Hudson man has pleaded guilty in connection with a New Year’s Day crash that killed his fiancee.

Shawn MacNevin pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter and aggravated operating under the influence stemming from the Jan. 1 crash that took the life of 37-year-old Elizabeth Horlieca.

Investigators said the 42-year-old MacNevin’s Jeep ran off the road and struck a tree in Bangor. Prosecutors said his blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit to drive. A medical examiner determined Horlieca died of a broken neck.

MacNevin said court he’s sorry and takes full responsibility.

The defense is asking for no more than two years behind bars and the prosecution is asking for four.

Prosecutors say MacNevin had three OUIs in the 1990s. The judge will hand down the sentence on Thursday.
