A credit union was robbed Friday by a man who made his getaway on a bicycle, Portland police said.

The robber entered the University Credit Union at 391 Forest Ave. around 3:40 p.m. and handed the teller a threatening note demanding money, according to a news release by the Portland Police Department. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then ran from the building. He was last seen riding a bike outbound on Forest Avenue.

It’s the second time this month that the credit union branch was robbed, police said. They don’t believe Friday’s robbery was connected to the previous one on Sept. 4.

Police said the robber in Friday’s incident is white and in his late 20s or early 30s. He is about 6 feet tall with a medium build and a brown goatee. Police said he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, sneakers, blue-framed sunglasses and a white baseball cap.
