The Cumberland County Sheriff’s office said it is investigating an alleged assault on an inmate at the Cumberland County Jail.
The inmate was assaulted by two other inmates in one of the housing units at the jail on Monday, according to a statement by the sheriff’s office.
The victim was being held at the jail for the U.S. Marshals Service, which has been notified about the assault and is assisting with the investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
It isn’t releasing the names of the inmates involved or further information on the investigation.
