Dear voters,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who signed my nomination papers for a position on the Sanford City Council.

Sunday evening, I thought long and hard about those who had taken out papers for the season on the city council. Some were positive, some were negative and some had special interests.

I cannot work with negative people. I always try to be positive. And to be a city councilor, we all need to work together, on the same level, and to get along with one another.

We must all remember that the word “knowledge” and that the words “respectful to one another” are most important to serve on the city council.

The above is the reason that my conscience would not allow me to turn in my papers to serve on the council.

I thank the council for giving me the opportunity to read this letter.
