I was walking to my car yesterday afternoon on Congress Street near Merrill, at the top of Munjoy Hill, when I noticed a small blue poster on a staple-encrusted telephone pole: “VOTE YES ON 2, SAVE THE VIEW.”
I turned 180 degrees and for the life of me couldn’t figure out which view should be saved.
Then it occurred to me that this must have been perpetrated by some resident or hired gun down there on the Eastern Prom, between Waterville and Atlantic streets – a geographic area, judging from an aerial view, that represents about 2 percent of the Hill.
The objective is to arrest the sensible development of the former Portland Co. complex and save the view for a few. Please use some common sense and vote “no” on 2 and allow a worthy project to move forward.
