From the Journal Tribune: “The vaccine shortage of last year’s flu season is not expected to occur again this year. Flu clinics are scheduled to begin this weekend throughout York County and the Center for Disease Control has not announced any shortages.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Some $2 million worth of additional work extending to 1967 has been obtained for the Saco plant of Saco-Lowell New England Division of Maremont Corp. and will result in an increase of employment of 90 to 225 persons, Vice President and General Manager David Spear said. … Spear emphasized that the local plant was able to obtain this work as a direct result of the two-year contract agreement recently reached by the management and local 406, Textiler Workers Union of Americas.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The second day of the Grangers Fair association show in Saco opened this morning with promise of a much larger attendance than the first day. … A good card of races was on the bill and more interest than on the first day was in evidence as some of the horses that did not get placed quite so high the first day were expected to do better.”
