AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Democratic leaders say they will fight Republican attacks against Planned Parenthood.
The Sun Journal reports Sen. Dawn Hill of Cape Neddick and Rep. Sara Gideon of Freeport say they will oppose any legislation from the GOP that targets the health service provider.
The legislators are responding to an opinion column written by Republican Reps. Richard Pickett of Dixfield, Mary Anne Kinney of Knox and Beth Turner of Burlington.
The column appeared on Sunday in the Sun Journal and says Maine taxpayer money given to Planned Parenthood should be diverted to other women’s health service programs.
