BREWER — Keenan Welzel scored twice, J.D. Souza had a goal and an assist, and Brunswick defeated Brewer 3-1 in a KVAC boys’ soccer game on Wednesday afternoon.

Kyle St. Thomas gave the Witches a lead seven minutes into the game, but Welzel scored off a Souza cross to tie it four minutes later, and Souza converted Carlyle Boyle’s assist for the go-ahead goal five minutes into the second half.

Josh Dorr had eight saves for the Dragons (7-3-1). Jonathan Wood stopped 12 shots for Brewer (3-6-2).

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 4, ISLESBORO 2: Jeremiah Hammond scored three times before assisting on Jeremy Powers’ goal as Greater Portland Christian (8-3-1) won at Islesboro (5-4).

Finn Gibson netted both Eagles goals.

Mason Jones made six saves for Greater Portland Christian, and Devin Small eight for Islesboro.

A.R. GOULD 7, CHOP POINT 2: Mouhamed Roone netted three goals to leading A.R. Gould (6-2) past Chop Point (2-7) at South Portland.

Kamal Haji-Ali and Eric Myers each added two goals for A.R. Gould, and Malacai Beauchamp had eight saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

KENNEBUNK 2, GREELY 0: Olivia Sandford scored from Allie Gregoire in the first half and set up Britney Gregoire’s goal in the second, leading the Rams (9-2-1) past Greely (4-8) at Kennebunk.

Liv Kudas stopped four shots for Kennebunk. Lizzie Brown had 12 saves for the Rangers.

MCAULEY/WAYNFLETE 1, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Molly Barr’s goal lifted McAuley/Waynflete (1-11) to its first victory of the year, an overtime win against at Old Orchard Beach (2-11).

Barr gained possession near midfield and maneuvered past two lines of defense to put a hard shot into the right side of the cage.

Goalkeeper Kiera MacWhinnie carried McAuley/Waynflete to overtime, making 25 saves. Jenny Cobb had eight saves for the Seagulls.

GORHAM 1, BONNY EAGLE 1: Cheyanne Glantz, with an assist from Catherine Biegel, gave the Scots (4-7-1) a 1-0 lead with 22:13 left to play, but Erin Esty countered 1:07 later for Gorham (4-8-1) in a tie at Standish.

Rams goalie Nicole Walls stopped six shots, while Bonny Eagle’s Ashlyn Wintle saved seven.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 3, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Keeley Bartolini scored from Amber Rose to give the Panthers (8-4) a 1-0 halftime lead over Cape Elizabeth (0-13) at Yarmouth.

Kiersten Marr added two second-half goals, one assisted by MacKenzie Sangster.

Alex Markonish and Bairu Chen each had one save for NYA. Capers goalie Eden Divney stopped 10 shots.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

SCARBOROUGH 3, WESTBROOK 0: Lauren Sabatino scored a pair of goals to lead the Red Storm (9-0-1) past Westbrook (1-8-1) at Scarborough.

Jillian Ware also scored, with an assist from Ellie Patten.

Molly LeComte had the shutout with five saves. Westbrook keeper Michaela Russell had 12 saves.

BRUNSWICK 3, BREWER 0: Anna Kousky put in a pair of goals and Jenna Brooks added a goal and an assist to lead the Dragons (8-2-1) past visiting Brewer (6-5).

Beth Labbe had three saves for Brunswick; Mikayla Henderson had seven for the Witches.

GORHAM 3, CHEVERUS 0: Lizzie Sullivan scored twice, Jenny Darasz also had a goal, and Gorham (8-2) shut out the Stags (3-5-2) at Portland.

MARSHWOOD 2, DEERING 1: Natalie DuBois broke a 1-1 halftime tie, providing the edge for Marshwood (8-1) in a win against the Rams (5-4-1) at Portland.

Marin Smith scored for the Hawks in the first, with an assist from Natalie Herbold. Simone Lauture scored for Deering.

Emily Robida had eight saves for the Hawks. Cassidy Coyne had 11 for the Rams.

PORTLAND 2, BONNY EAGLE 0: Gracie LaGrange’s 20-yarder passed just over the goalie’s fingertips to give the Bulldogs (6-4) a first-half lead over Bonny Eagle (4-5-1) at Portland.

Kate Johnson converted a pass from Isabel Stehli later in the first.

FREEPORT 1, WELLS 0: Becca Cameron fired a short shot into the net after gaining possession in the box midway through the second half during a victory for Freeport (3-6-1) at Wells (2-7).

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Adia Beaudoin scored on a first-half free kick, then took the corner that set up Hannah McAlary’s header late in the game, helping Thornton (5-5) beat South Portland (4-6) at Saco.

Cassidy Cochrane also scored in the second half.

Lexi Nason had five saves for Thornton. Zoe Brown had eight for the Red Riots.

HIGHVIEW CHRISTIAN 5, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 3: Michaela Hill scored two of her three goals in the final five minutes as the Knights (5-3) pulled away from Greater Portland Christian (2-9) at South Portland.

Clarissa Jones had two goals for the Lions. Courtney Spaulding also scored.

VOLLEYBALL

CONY 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 2: Amanda Bouchard served 16 of her 19 aces during the first two games to put the Red Riots (4-6) up 2-0, but Cony (3-8) came back to win the final three games and the match, 12-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20 and 15-12, at South Portland.
