BANGOR — Maine congressional hopeful Emily Cain says she raised $205,853 between July 1 and Sept. 30 in her drive to recapture the state’s 2nd District for the Democrats.

Cain says she has raised more than $500,000 on the campaign trail so far. That is more than twice what she raised in the 2014 cycle. Her campaign says it also makes her the best-funded Democratic House challenger in Maine history.

Another Democrat, Joe Baldacci, has raised more than $124,000 in the first two months of his campaign.

Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin is leading the money race. His campaign said this week that it has raised $450,000 in past three months, bringing his total raised this campaign cycle to more than $1.5 million.

The seat is being watched nationally by both parties.
