SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Three games into the season and the University of Maine men’s hockey team is still in search of its first victory.

Then again, the Black Bears haven’t lost, either.

Brian Morgan scored with 14:04 remaining in the third period to help Maine come from behind and tie Union 1-1 in a nonconference game Friday night at Messa Rink.

Maine (0-0-3) outshot the Dutchmen (1-1-1) by a 33-29 margin.

Brendan Taylor gave Union a 1-0 lead when he scored with 4:27 left in the second period.

Mark Dufour, a Winthrop native who plays for Union, tied for his team lead with four shots. He was also whistled for a roughing penalty.

Maine freshman Rob McGovern stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced.

The teams will play again at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Black Bears opened their season last weekend with ties against Michigan State and North Dakota in the Ice Breaker tournament at Portland.
