Kevin Thomas’ article on dwindling high school football rosters (“Thin rosters have some football teams on the edge,” Oct. 4) seemed to tiptoe around the real issue – concussions, which are rampant at every level above Pee Wee teams.
The question is: What parent is going to allow their child to participate in a game in which a high percentage of players end up brain-damaged?
Recent NFL studies have shown that even the majority of professionals suffer from greatly reduced brain function and curtailed life spans.
