ORONO — The University of Maine won its eighth straight field hockey game, beating UMass-Lowell 2-0 in an America East contest Sunday afternoon.

Danielle Aviani scored at 18:50 of the first half to give Maine (15-2, 5-0 America East) a 1-0 lead. Libby Riedl added a goal in the second half.

Kelsey Federico made 12 saves for UMass-Lowell (5-10, 0-5), which was outshot 14-1 by the Black Bears.

BOWDOIN 5, COLBY 1: Kimmy Ganong had three goals and an assist as the Polar Bears (12-0, 8-0 NESCAC) beat the Mules (7-6, 2-6) in Brunswick.

Rachel Kennedy added a pair of goals and Becca Moore also scored for Bowdoin.

Sarah Evans had eight saves for Colby.

AMHERST 3, BATES 0: Elizabeth Turnbull and Sara Culhane each had a goal and an assist as the Jeffs (8-4, 4-4 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (6-6, 2-6) in Lewiston.

Katie Paolano also scored for Amherst.

MEN’S SOCCER

ST. JOSEPH’S 4, LYNDON STATE 2: Brett Mattos had a pair of first-half goals as the Monks (10-4-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to beat the Hornets (1-12) in a non-conference game in Lyndon Center, Vermont.

Mattos gave St. Joseph’s a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute with an assist from Jesse Ramirez, then made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute with an assist from Nate Fox.Kartikeya Swarup’s unassisted goal 42:18 into the half extended the lead to 3-0.

Ricky Carroll scored for Lyndon State in the 50th minute, but Ramirez made it 4-1 in the 75th minute with an assist from Austin Bell. Devin Cowan also scored for the Hornets.

AMHERST 3, BATES 0: Nico Pascual-Leone had a hat trick as the Jeffs (12-0, 7-0 NESCAC) remain undefeated with a win over the Bobcats (7-4-1, 2-4-1) at Lewiston.

Sam Polito and Robbie Montanaro combined for 10 saves for Bates, while Thomas Bull had two saves for Amherst.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

BOWDOIN 1, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: Maggie Godley scored the game’s only goal 18:41 into the first half and the Polar Bears (7-4-1) beat the Beavers (5-9-1) in a non-conference game in Farmington.

Kiana Thompson stopped 16 shots for UMaine-Farmington, while Rachel Stout needed to make just one save to earn her first win of the season.

AMHERST 0, BATES 0: Sarah McCarthy made seven saves and the Bobcats (5-5-3, 2-3-3 NESCAC) played to a scoreless tie with the Jeffs (8-2-2, 4-2-2) in Lewiston.

Holly Burwick had 10 saves for Amherst.

BINGHAMTON 2, MAINE 0: Katie Corcoran scored in the first half and Leighann Bennett in the second half as the Bearcats (2-11-2, 1-4-1 America East) beat the Black Bears (8-6-1, 3-2-1) in Orono.

Claudie Dube-Trempe had seven saves for Maine.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 2, MERRIMACK 1: The Black Bears (2-4, 2-2 Hockey East) scored twice in the second period and beat the Warriors (1-5, 1-1) in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Meghann Treacy had 32 saves for Maine.
