BOSTON — A JetBlue Airways plane headed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Worcester, Massachusetts, was diverted to Boston’s Logan Airport after officials say a mechanical failure caused the plane’s flaps to become stuck in an upright position.

The Telegram & Gazette reports several passengers aboard Flight 2020 became sick Sunday as the pilot circled for about 10 minutes trying to correct the problem before deciding to land at Logan.

The plane landed faster than normal and required a longer runway.

A JetBlue spokesman says the aircraft needed maintenance on a flap and an inspection. The airline apologized, credited passengers $50 and bused them to Worcester or directly to their homes.
