A Wiscasset man was arrested over the weekend on a charge of heroin trafficking and another charge of driving on a suspended license.

James C. Ezzell, 34, of Wiscasset, was arrested Oct. 17 after a traffic stop on a minor infraction on Route 1 in Bath.

Officer Garrett Olson of the Bath Police Department stopped Ezzell and after a search of his vehicle, found 6 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin, some marijuana, drug paraphernalia and more than $3,000 in cash that was suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

Ezzell was charged with unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin), a Class B felony; and operating after suspension, a misdemeanor.

Bail was set at $5,000. Ezzell was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail with a court date of Dec. 15.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
