FALMOUTH — Hannah Niles headed in a corner kick from Adia Beaudoin with 12:48 left in the first half Friday and 11th-seeded Thornton Academy went on to a 1-0 victory against sixth-ranked Falmouth in a Class A South schoolgirl soccer prelim.

The Trojans (8-7) will be at third-seeded Gorham (11-3) in the quarterfinals Tuesday.

Lexi Nason stopped seven shots for her eighth shutout of the season. Adelaide Cooke had five saves for Falmouth (8-5-2).

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 1: Jaley Martin scored four goals as the 11th-ranked Patriots (7-6-2) upended the sixth-seeded Falcons (8-6-1) in a Class B South prelim at Rumford.

Gray-New Gloucester will be at third-seeded Cape Elizabeth (10-4) on Tuesday.

Emma Woods had a goal and an assist, and Hannah Dixon also scored for Gray-New Gloucester, which led 2-0 at halftime.

Hannah Koch scored a second-half goal for Mountain Valley.

Jen Sutherland stopped five shots for the Patriots. Karen Flaherty and Lauren Sterling combined for 16 saves for the Falcons.

WAYNFLETE 7, BOOTHBAY REGION 0: Eva Farrar scored three goals as the sixth-seeded Flyers (11-4) cruised past the 11th-ranked Seahawks (3-11-1) in a Class C South prelim at Portland.

Waynflete will be at third-seeded St. Dominic (11-2-1) on Tuesday.

Elisabeth Lualdi had a pair of goals for Waynflete, which took a 2-0 halftime lead.

Lydia Giguere and Amelia Bertaska also scored.

Jackie McLoon stopped 18 shots for Boothbay. Ali Pope needed one save for Waynflete.

TRAIP ACADEMY 3, MT. ABRAM 0: The ninth-seeded Rangers (9-5-1) scored three goals in the second half and shut out the eighth-ranked Roadrunners (4-8-3) in a Class C South prelim at Salem.

Traip will be at top-ranked Sacopee Valley (13-0-1) on Tuesday.

Emma Auclair scored on a breakaway with 36:21 remaining, then scored again 5:37 later off a scramble, and Beti Stephens made it 3-0 from Auclair.

Abby Brackley stopped 12 shots for Mt. Abram. Lynne Moore had three saves for Traip.

MT. VIEW 2, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Grace Redwine and Arianna Kaczmarek scored, and Jenni Nadeau made eight saves as 10th-seeded Mt. View (6-6-3) beat seventh-ranked Erskine Academy (10-4-1) in a Class B North prelim at South China.

The Mustangs (6-6-3) will be at second-seeded Hermon (12-0-2) in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

DEERING 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Meghana Clere scored twice as the seventh-seeded Rams (9-5-1) downed the 10th-ranked Scots (7-7-1) in a Class A South prelim at Portland.

Deering will be at second-seeded Scarborough (12-1-1) on Tuesday.

Clere scored with 9:29 left from Cora Melcher as Deering led 1-0 at halftime.

Simone Lauture scored six minutes into the second half, then set up Clere two minutes later.

PORTLAND 3, SANFORD 0: Alex Frank and Josue Madrid Brenis each had a goal and an assist for the fifth-ranked Bulldogs (8-2-5), who outshot 12th-seeded Sanford (5-9-1) 34-3 in a Class A South prelim at Portland.

Portland will be at fourth-seeded Falmouth (10-3-1) on Wednesday.

Frank gave Portland a 1-0 lead 2:11 into the second half, heading home Brady Cyr’s corner kick. Frank and Madrid Brenis assisted on Josh Irving’s kick with 14 minutes left before Madrid Brenis made it 3-0 on an unassisted goal with 2:37 left to play.

Bob Brittingham stopped three shots for the shutout. Tylar Burgess had 10 saves for the Spartans.

VALLEY 4, VINALHAVEN/NORTH HAVEN 2: Cody Laweryson had two goals and an assist as the 10th-seeded Cavaliers (6-8-1) downed the seventh-ranked Vikings (5-8) in a Class D South prelim at Vinalhaven.

Keegan Farnham and Spencer Hunnewell also scored for Valley, which will play at second-seeded Richmond (9-4) at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Dillon Beane made 22 saves for Valley. Isles Blackington had 13 for the Vikings.
