No. 7 Cheverus – who upset their way through the playoffs last year to emerge as eventual State Champs – dropped in on No. 2 Gorham on Tuesday night, Oct. 27, and stirred up more postseason magic by defeating the Rams 2-1.
The Stags jump to 9-3-4 on the year and advance to Saturday’s A South semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of Thornton Academy vs. South Portland, which took place on Wednesday evening, the 28th, after the American Journal’s print deadline.
The Rams, a powerhouse throughout the regular season, return to the sidelines till next year at 12-2-1. Look for them to bring the fire again in 2016.
