Luke Laverdiere, Yarmouth cross country: The sophomore standout won the Class B South cross country race in 16 minutes, 32 seconds over the 5K course at Twin Brook in Cumberland. He had the fastest time of the meet in any class. Yarmouth finished fourth in the meet.

Honorable mention

Desmond Leslie, Windham football: Leslie, a junior, scored two touchdowns and passed for a third to lead the Eagles to a 19-15 win over Cheverus in a Class A North game on the final Friday night of the regular season. Windham gained a first-round playoff bye.

Issiah Bachelder, Portland football: Bachelder, a junior, passed for three TDs and 177 yards as Portland beat South Portland 31-0 in the Battle of the Bridge.

Jake Tomkinson, Cheverus soccer: The Stags’ senior keeper backboned a defense that kept second-seeded Gorham in check with 12 saves in a 2-1 quarterfinal win. He also made seven saves in a 4-0 win against Marshwood.

Girls

Katherine Leggat-Barr, Greely cross country: The junior captured the Class B South cross country race in 19 minutes, 10 seconds over the 5K course at Twin Brook. She had the fastest time of the meet regardless of class to help the Rangers finish second to Yarmouth.

Honorable mention

Kacey Foerster, Scarborough volleyball: Foerster had several kills and blocks for the Red Storm in their win over Thornton Academy in a Class A quarterfinal Saturday. Scarborough advanced with a 25-18, 15-25, 25-8 and 25-19 win over the Golden Trojans. She was also instrumental in a semifinal win over Class A defending champion Cape Elizabeth.

Taylor Ouellette, Thornton Academy field hockey: Ouellette, a sophomore, scored two goals to spark the Golden Trojans to 4-1 win over Cheverus for the Class A South title. She also scored two goals in the semifinal win over Scarborough.

Kyra Schwartzman, Kennebunk soccer: The senior goalie stopped a penalty kick and three breakaways to spark the No. 9 Rams to a 2-0 upset of two-time defending Class A champion Windham.
