Former state legislator John Tuttle edged incumbent Alan Walsh to earn a one-year term for one of three seats available on the Sanford City Council on Tuesday.

Tuttle finished with 1,633 votes to Walsh’s 1,037 votes.

Incumbent Fred Smith (1,210 votes) and newcomer Lucas Lanigan (1,122 votes) were elected to three-year terms. Incumbent Richard Wilkins received 707 votes, Leonard Kinney had 228, Dianne Connolly 889 and Donald Jamison 656.

Sanford School Committee member Jonathan Mapes ran unopposed for a three-year term, receiving 2,308 votes.
