ARUNDEL — Eleanor Mae Heinze, 71, died Nov. 13, 2015, at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

Eleanor was born April 2, 1944, in Biddeford, a daughter of Franklin and Alice (Morse) Leach Sr. She graduated from Kennebunk High School and earned her associates degree in business administration.

She worked for 25 years at General Dynamics as an administrative assistant and for five years as the town clerk in Arundel.

On April 19,1985, she married John Thomas Vacchiano.

Eleanor was a very giving person and very civic minded. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Madonna Chapter # 144, and the Eight and Forty Society of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She gave regularly to the Animal Welfare Society.

In addition to her civic duties, Eleanor also enjoyed crochet, crafts and camping.

Eleanor is preceded in death by: her husband, John, in 2007; and by her brother, Franklin, in 2012.

Eleanor is lovingly remembered by: her sons, Jon Vacchiano and his wife Pamela of Windham, James Vacchiano and his wife Lisa of Limington, and Terrence Heinze of Arundel; her daughters, Penny Mincey of Virginia Beach, Rae-Ellen Vacchiano and her husband Anthony Stevenson of Hollis, and Sharilynn Vacchiano Russell and her wife Sandy Duhamel of Standish; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 4- 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 with Rev. James Henry at the same address.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Arundel Cemetery.
