Rising Tide Brewing Co. is expanding its tasting room, adding a new 30-foot wrap-around bar and an AV system so beer-drinking football fans can watch New England Patriots games on Sundays.

The brewery at 103 Fox St. in Portland will close soon to complete the renovations but plans to reopen before Christmas, according to co-owners Heather and Nathan Sanborn.

Beer fans already gather at the brewery seven days a week to drink, play cornhole, and eat from food trucks that gather in the parking lot. The existing tasting room will remain open until it’s time to move the bar and keg cooler into their new positions. The Sanborns have not yet determined exactly when that will be.

Nathan Sanborn, who is the head brewer, said the new design will maintain the connection between the production side and the front of the house.

“When visitors come to the new tasting room, they’ll continue to be able to see what’s happening in production and connect what they’re drinking to the brewing process,” he said.
