Two brothers from Richmond face criminal charges after they were pulled over Tuesday morning for allegedly going 87 mph on Interstate 295 in Falmouth and were seen tossing items out the car window.

Maine State Police Trooper Justin Cooley was pulling the Volkswagen Beetle over in Falmouth and saw items being thrown from the car window, police said. A police dog was used to search the area where the items were thrown, and it turned up a crack cocaine pipe.

Police charged Robert Gilley, 39, with driving with a suspended license. Christopher Gilley, 31, was free on bail from earlier heroin and cocaine charges. He was charged with violating bail conditions after a urine test showed he had drugs in his system, police said.

Troopers found two hypodermic needles and some marijuana in the car, police said.

Both men are being held at Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
