CHICAGO — Tyler Ulis had 18 points and six assists, and No. 2 Kentucky used its speed and athleticism to hold off No. 5 Duke for a 74-63 victory in the Champions Classic on Tuesday night.

Kentucky forced 16 turnovers and outscored Duke 18-4 in fast-break points. Jamal Murray scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half, and Isiah Briscoe added 12 points for the Wildcats (3-0).

Amile Jefferson led the Blue Devils (2-1) with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

(8) OKLAHOMA 84, MEMPHIS 78: Buddy Hield scored 30 points and Oklahoma held off host Memphis (1-1) in the Sooners’ opening game.

It was Oklahoma’s first victory over Memphis in seven tries and it wasn’t easy as the Tigers were up 76-75 with 1:38 to go.

TULSA 77, (9) WICHITA STATE 67: Shaquille Harrison scored 20 points and Marquel Curtis added 16 to help Tulsa (2-0) upset Wichita State, ending three years of frustration against the Shockers (1-1), who had won a school record seven straight in the long-running series.

The Shockers were led by Ron Baker with 23 points and Grady Anton with 18. Fred VanVleet, hobbled by a sprained ankle and sore hamstring, added 11.

(11) VILLANOVA 87, NEBRASKA 63: Josh Hart scored 19 points, Daniel Ochefu had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Villanova rolled at home.

(18) NOTRE DAME 86, MILWAUKEE 78: Demetrius Jackson scored 20 points, V.J. Beachem tied a career high with 19 while adding a career-best eight rebounds, and host Notre Dame (2-0) beat Milwaukee (3-1).

(19) UCONN 85, NEW HAMPSHIRE 66: Sterling Gibbs scored 18 of his 21 points in the first half and host UConn routed New Hampshire.

Rodney Purvis added 20 points for the Huskies (2-0). Tanner Leissner had 20 for UNH (1-1).

WOMEN

(22) GEORGE WASHINGTON 78, AMERICAN UNIV. 48: Caira Washington had 21 points and 11 rebounds to help the Colonials (2-0) roll at Washington.

INDIANA 54, (24) CHATTANOOGA 43: Tyra Buss scored 16 points, leading a surge to open the fourth quarter and host Indiana (2-0) upended Chattanooga (2-1) in the preseason WNIT.
