The media are calling the leader of the Paris attacks a “mastermind.” However, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that suicide bombers and gunmen with automatic weapons will kill a lot of people in crowded public places.
“Mastermind” gives far too much credit, and even tends to glorify the slaughter. We need a different term for such an individual. I suggest “monstermind.”
