NEW YORK — Jerome Frink had 25 points and nine rebounds to lead LIU Brooklyn to an 84-79 victory over Maine on Thursday night.

Fink shot 9 of 11 from the floor. Martin Hermannsson scored 23 points and Aakim Saintil chipped in 12 for the Blackbirds (2-0). Nura Zanna added eight points with 11 rebounds.

Aaron Calixte had 18 points to lead Maine (0-2). Kevin Little scored 15 points and had five assists, Devine Eke had 14 points and Issac Vann added 11.

Saintil made a layup and 3-pointer during a 9-2 spurt to give the Blackbirds a 61-55 lead. Vann made a 3-pointer, Eke a dunk, and Little added five points as the Black Bears pulled to 68-67 with four minutes left. Zanna made a layup and Little missed a 3-pointer with three minutes left.

Hermannsson made a layup, Frink a dunk, and the two combined for 10-of-12 shooting from the line to seal it.

UNE 78, UM-FARMINGTON 62: Devin Thompson scored 20 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and also grabbed nine rebounds as the Nor’easters (3-1) pulled away from the Beavers (0-1) at Farmington.

Drew Coveney added 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Nor’easters. Sean Murphy had 11 points for the Beavers.

HUSSON 81, ST. JOSEPH’S 73: Trevon Butler had 24 points and 17 rebounds, and the Eagles (1-0) scored the final 11 points to beat the Monks (1-2) at Standish.

Raheem Anderson added 19 points and Tyler Norris 18 for the Eagles, who trailed throughout the second half before taking the lead for good with 3:42 left.

Andrew Ruffen scored 13 points for the Monks, who led by as many as 14 in the first half.

(12) ARIZONA 88, BOISE STATE 76: Gabe York scored a career-high 23 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead four Arizona players in double figures and the host Wildcats (3-0) pulled away in the second half.

(14) INDIANA 86, CREIGHTON 65: James Blackmon Jr. scored 19 points and Thomas Bryant added 17 to help host Indiana (3-0) rout Creighton (2-1).

(16) UTAH 73, TEXAS TECH 63: Lorenzo Bonam scored 20 points to help the Utes (3-0) hold off Texas Tech (1-1) in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tipoff at San Juan.

(17) VANDERBILT 79, STONY BROOK 72: Wade Baldwin IV came off the bench to score 21 and lead Vanderbilt (3-0) to an overtime win over visiting Stony Brook (1-1).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S 79, HUSSON 61: Morgan Cahill scored 28 points, and also had six rebounds and four assists for the Monks (2-1), who used a 23-9 third-quarter run to pull away from the Eagles (0-1) at Standish.

Kelsi McNamara added 18 points and six assists for the Monks.

(5) BAYLOR 66, (19) SOUTH FLORIDA 63: Niya Johnson had 10 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, and Baylor (3-0) held on to beat the Bulls (2-1) at Waco, Texas, and reach the preseason WNIT championship game.

(6) FLORIDA STATE 78, TULANE 72: Shakayla Thomas scored 26 points, Adut Bulgak added 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Florida State (1-1) won at home.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

CAL LUTHERAN 3, BOWDOIN 1: Allie Eason had 19 kills and 18 digs to lead the Regals (29-5) past the Polar Bears 20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23 in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals at Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Quincy Leech had eight kills, 38 assists and 10 digs for Bowdoin (26-5).
