A father and son injured when they were thrown from their pickup truck at the Exit 3 ramp on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery are expected to survive.

Luiz Coelho, 55, of Hudson, Massachusetts, and his son, Arthur Coelho, 22, of Marlborough, Massachusetts, are being treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening, according to Maine State Police.

The truck was towing a trailer that carried another pickup and a passenger car, police said. The father was driving and apparently took the northbound exit ramp too fast and lost control, police said.

The truck rolled over and landed on its wheels but both men were thrown from the truck, which was destroyed in the crash.

The two vehicles on the trailer were being delivered to locations in Maine and New Hampshire.

The exit ramp to Route 236 was closed for several hours though it is now open. The ramp to Route 1 was unaffected.
