A high-speed chase that started Thursday on the Ossipee Trail in Gorham ended in the arrest of a Buxton man in Limington.

The incident began about 6 p.m. when Gorham police Officer Dean Hannon saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, according to a statement by Gorham Sgt. Sears E. Edwards.

In the chase that followed, the vehicle, operated by Shaun Webster, 22, led officers from Gorham, the Cumberland County and York County sheriff’s departments, and Maine State Police through several towns.

Police disabled the vehicle in Limington and took Webster into custody.

Webster was eventually taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he faces charges including eluding an officer, reckless conduct with a motor vehicle, and refusing to submit to arrest.
