Alfred man in critical condition after apparent hit-and-run

From Staff Reports

ALFRED — Maine State Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run that seriously injured a 21- year-old Alfred man early Saturday morning, Maine Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a statement.

McCausland said at 2:45 a.m. an anonymous caller reported to police that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on the unpaved stretch of Kennebunk Road in Alfred. Police determined a large group of young adults had been gathered about a mile away for an outdoor party, he said.

John Caramihalis is being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland. A spokeswoman for the hospital his morning said that he remains in critical condition.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Gray state police dispatch center at 657-3030. McCausland said this morning that police would have an update on the incident today.
