Santa and Mrs. Claus will light the Christmas tree in Central Park Friday evening Dec. 4 following the 5:30 p.m. Holly Daze parade.

There’ll be plenty of Yule spirit as Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive to light the Christmas tree in Sanford’s Central Park on Friday, Dec. 4, following a 5:30 p.m. parade that steps off in the vicinity of Dairy Queen and makes its way downtown along Main Street to the Midtown Mall. Grand marshal of Holly Daze, an annual event hosted by Sanford Downtown Legacy, will be Sanford Parks and Recreation Director Marcel Blouin.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, downtown businesses will host various activities that are either free or available for a small fee, including tours at Sanford Springvale Histori- cal Society; ornament making at Goodall Memorial Library; face painting, lunch, and cookie decoration at Trafton Senior Center; cookie decorating at Boston Bakery; Bruce the Moose will be showing folks his room in the Sanford Mainers Office; Get Fired Up will be giving out an ornament for painting and more; Literacy Volunteers will read stories to children; Hollywood Hair will be giving out temporary tattoos and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available in the party room of Get Fired Up for pictures sponsored by Altrusa. Wasco sponsors horse drawn wagon rides, accompanied by carolers from Nasson Theater. While waiting for the buggy, there will be complimentary hot cocoa Mid-Town Mall near the hitching post outside the Holly Craft and Vendor Fair.Broose the Moose, Elsa, Sponge Bob, Minion, Batman, Sprinkles, Grimace and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be out-and-about.
