TABLE CULINARY CENTER, KENNEBUNKPORT: Recent classes have featured local chefs and mixologists on salad dressings, negronis and chocolate truffles.

THE WHITE BARN INN, KENNEBUNK: If money is no object, try a two-hour private classe with the inn’s chef, where you become a part of the kitchen staff making dishes from the menu for that night’s dinner service. The cooking class alone costs $215; add an additional $100 if you want to actually eat the four-course meal.

LEROUX KITCHEN, PORTLAND: This popular kitchen store hosts regular cooking demonstrations and cooking classes in its second-floor kitchen. Saturday demonstrations are typically free; you’ll pay for the Thursday evening classes, and preregistration is required. For details call 207-553-7665.

JILLYANNA’S WOOD-FIRED COOKING SCHOOL, KENNEBUNKPORT: Jill Strauss, a graduate of Johnson & Wales, teaches at her home using an outdoor wood-fired oven. We took a seafood pizza class here a couple of years ago and had a great time.

BLACK TIE CO., PORTLAND: Upcoming classes include Christmas in London, Braising 101 and Cooking for Couples.
