A 16-year-old Westbrook girl reported missing Wednesday has been found safe, Westbrook police said Thursday.

Westbrook police had asked for the public’s help in finding 16-year-old Audrey McDermott, who they said could be in danger. They released a photo of McDermott to news media to help in the search.

On Thursday, police issued a statement that said only that the missing juvenile had been located and is safe. McDermott was believed to have ties to people in Westbrook, Brunswick and South Carolina, but the police statement did not provide details on where she was found or the circumstances of her disappearance.
