Some parts of Maine could see as much as 10 inches of snow on Thursday, but Portland and southern Maine will not be touched, according to the National Weather Service in Gray.
Meteorologist Eric Schwibs said the heaviest snow will fall in a band stretching from the New Hampshire and western Maine mountains to Aroostook County.
Areas to the north of Skowhegan could get 4-6 inches of snow while areas north of Millinocket and in Aroostook County could see 10 inches, Schwibs said. The Sugarloaf ski area may receive 6 inches of fresh snow.
“Northern Maine is going to hit the jackpot,” he said. “Once you are out of the mountains it will stay green.”
