BIDDEFORD — Massabesic had five double-figure scorers, paced by Ryan Gullikson and Dan Amabile with 15 points apiece, and cruised to an 87-51 victory against Biddeford in a boys’ basketball opener Saturday.

Tyus Sprague-Ripley added 12 points, and Josh Daigle and Weston Bergeron each scored 10 for Massabesic, which was 1-17 last season. The Mustangs led 44-24 at halftime.

Carter Edgerton and Kyle Norton led Biddeford with 11 points apiece.

LAKE REGION 61, WELLS 41: Nate Smith scored seven of his 12 points during a 17-2 run in the second quarter as the Lakers pulled away at Naples.

Jack Lesure led Lake Region with 16 points.

YARMOUTH 69, GRAY NEW-GLOUCESTER 47: Jonathan Torres scored 15 points, and Bailey Darling and Musseit M’Bareck each added 13 for the Clippers in a win at Gray.

Zack Haskell led GNG with 15 points. John Martin added 12.

WAYNFLETE 57, SACOPEE VALLEY 24: Abel Alameyo paced a balanced offense with 15 points as the Flyers rolled in an opener at Portland.

Yai Deng added 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Brandon Ameglio had eight points and 10 rebounds.

WISCASSET 73, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 56: Brandon Sprague scored 27 points and Ethan James added 24 for the Wolverines in a win over the Falcons at Rumford.

Ryley Flynn paced Mountain Valley with 17 points.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 43, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 38: Jalen Tamalea had 14 points and 14 boards in a win at Freeport.

Jean-Pierre Tashamala added 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Mason Jones was the top scorer for GPCS with 15 points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

GRAY NEW-GLOUCESTER 36, YARMOUTH 27: Skye Conley recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Patriots past the Clippers in Gray.

Cory Langenbach led Yarmouth with 12 points.

WAYNFLETE 38, SACOPEE VALLEY 34: Annika Brooks scored 16 points, and Lydia Giguere added 11 and five steals to lead the Flyers past the Hawks in Portland.

Abigail Hughes scored 10 points for Sacopee Valley, which led by six going into the fourth quarter.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 37, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 34: Alex Goodman had 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists as the Breakers edged the Lions at Freeport.

Ashlee Dawson led GPCS with 10 points.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 3, ST. DOMINIC 1: Skylar Pettingill and Cam Smith scored unassisted goals in the second period and Cam Nigro added a late insurance goal as the Red Storm won a rematch of last season’s Class A state championship game, in Auburn.

St. Dom’s took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Cooper Richard with less than five seconds left in the first period.

CHEVERUS 5, FALMOUTH 4: Sean Walsh scored 5:05 into overtime to give the Stags a win at Troubh Ice Arena.

Luke Trickey had two goals and an assist for Cheverus. Chris Vallee and Cam Dube also scored, and Colby Benway made 30 saves.

Falmouth scored three short-handed goals, including two by Robbie Armitage. Chris Camelio and Theo Hembre were the other Falmouth goal scorers.

BIDDEFORD 7, GORHAM 1: Ricky Ruck had three goals and an assist as the Tigers beat the Rams at USM Ice Arena.

Brady Crepeau chipped in with a pair of goals, and Zach Thompson and Logan Magnant each added a goal and an assist.

YARMOUTH 2, GARDINER 0: Dan Latham made 28 saves for his first career shutout as the Clippers blanked the Tigers at Travis Roy Arena.

Joe Truesdale scored in the first period and William Jacobs scored an insurance goal in the third period.

CAPE ELIZABETH 11, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 0: Ben Ekedahl had two goals and two assists, and the Capers received goals from eight players as they rolled past Maranacook/Winthrop at Troubh Ice Arena.

NOBLE/WELLS 5, MARSHWOOD/TRAIP ACADEMY/SANFORD 1: Noah Pease scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Knights rolled at Rochester, New Hampshire.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

BRUNSWICK 6, YARMOUTH/FREEPORT/GRAY-NG 5: Jenna Brooks completed a hat trick 1:16 into overtime to give the Dragons (2-4) a win over the Clippers (1-2) at Travis Roy Arena.

Brunswick erased a pair of two-goal deficits, getting third-period goals from Brooks and Rayna Sage to force overtime.

Brooks also had two assists, and Sage finished with two goals and an assist. Linemate Beth Labbe contributed three assists. Victoria Stevens also scored for Brunswick.

Katie Clemmer scored twice in the first period as Yarmouth grabbed a 3-1 lead. Kelsey Meyer, Keeley Arnold and Kyaira Grondin were the other goal scorers for the Clippers.

FALMOUTH 5, CHEVERUS/KENNEBUNK/OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Sarah Hutcheon scored three unassisted goals and Evelyn Clement added a pair of goals as the Yachtsmen (3-0-2) won at Troubh Ice Arena.

Jill Hannigan scored both goals for the Stags (2-2).

FRIDAY’S GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

MCAULEY 46, SOUTH PORTLAND 37: Jess Willerson scored 20 points and Brooke Howard added 12 to lead the Lions past the Red Riots in Portland.

Meghan Graff led South Portland with 13 points.
