Like millions of Americans, I recently received notice from Social Security Administration stating that the amount I receive would not be eligible for a COLA increase because, in their words “There was no increase in the cost of living during the past year based on the Consumer Price Index.”

In fact, the amount I will receive in 2016 will be a bit more than 9 percent less than in 2015.

While my accounting degree may be a bit rusty, it certainly appears to me that my cost of living has most certainly increased.
